Rocky Mountain National Park

September 26th, 2006 by Eloewien

Wow… that was quite a trip.  I spent most of Saturday up in Rocky Mountain National Park.  Pictures are up in my gallery…  http://dragonwingarts.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=365

Some of the pictures came out beautifully.  Perhaps I should become a photographer :)  I even stopped just to sit and enjoy the mountain air… with a set of knitting needles of course!  It was so wonderful to just sit and have such beautiful mountains all around me.  It’s mating season for the elk, and the sound was erie and spine-tingling.  I am just so amazed that such a beautiful place exists.

It also brought back memories– I had forgotten the sound of the aspen trees, almost like the sound of a small stream.  The aspen were changing color for fall, which was spectacular.  It all reminded me of my summers in Lassen National Park.  I need to get back there sometime.  I feel so at home in these mountains.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t trade my Virginia mountain view for anything.  They are equally beautiful and breathtaking.  I’m looking forward to getting home to even more fall colors.  I’m sure the drive home from Charlotte will be beautiful as well!

Boulder Knit-Out

September 16th, 2006 by Eloewien

Since I’m in Denver, I went to the Boulder Knit-Out today. Unfortunately, the wind was horrible and it was rather cold, so we packed up around 1pm. I met some very wonderful people, and won a hang of Mango Moon recycled silk. Yesterday, I discovered A Knitted Peace- a very nice yarn store not at all far from where I’m staying. I bought some teal worsted wool that I’ll use for my bodice, and some deep green cashmere/merino/silk for the corset. I also received a ball of irish wool that is beautiful. I also purchased my first set of addis- wow! They are so fast and smooth to use!

Sweaters

September 2nd, 2006 by Eloewien

Well, I’ve started two sweaters, and ordered the pattern for a third.  I’ve started the knitted corset that was featured on Knitty Gritty and I’ve made significant progress on the grey homespun sweater… pictures can be found in my gallery at http://dragonwingarts.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=320

I’m really enjoying the corset, and I plan on making another design by the same artist, http://www.anniemodesitt.com/patterns/#Corset
It’s a more intricate knitted corset, and it can be done with or without sleeves.  I’m really looking forward to that project, but it is significantly more difficult and I have to find a yarn I want to use first :)

Anyway- as you can tell, I’m knitting up a storm.  Work is sending me to Denver for two weeks at the end of the month, and I plan on spending many evenings relaxing in my quiet hotel room watching DVDs, hanging out online chatting with people, and working on my current knitting projects!
