Latest Projects

September 28th, 2007 by Eloewien

Wow… there are too many to count! I’ve been working on several projects… they’re making progress.  Here’s a rundown of my latest:

A choker crocheted using Claudia Handpaint yarn

Another in color “HOKIE” - yep- yarn dyed just for Mosaic!

Those both just need buttons to be done.

I’ve also done a Hokie Dreamswatch…

And designed a filet crochet pattern that, when done, will say “VT Hokies, We are Virginia Tech”… and I plan on hand-dyeing it in the end too…  not bad for my first filet crochet!

Cashmerino baby sweater for Abigail- only about 10 more rows.  Oh- and frustrations of all frustrations… I was setting my knitting down and tucked the needles into my ball of yarn, only under a few strands, to keep the ball from rolling away… and one broke!  Poor gorgeous ebony needle!! I’ll figure out when I have time to replace it sometime next week… for now, stuck another project on a holder… must finish baby sweater!!!

Another crochet attempt– 12″ square… I’m thinking that two of these might make a cute purse.  I found it is much easier to crochet with Katia Sevilla than it is to knit.  Probably because one hand can be dedicated to yarn wrangling!

Last but not least… more MALABRIGO! Got it off someone who was destashing on the Knitting help forum, and it’s yummy! Tortuga colorway, 2 skeins.  I’ve debated a hat, debated a scarf, but it’s just not what I want.  I want something to wrap myself in mmmalabrigo yummyness, so I’m hunting down a stitch pattern and making a wrap of some sort.  To be determined!   Anyway- there’s a new link on the right to my flickr account. Ravelry requires flickr rather than my gallery, and our hosting provider has totally messed up my gallery anyway… so the new link is  http://www.flickr.com/photos/11733105@N04/

Update and finally some sanity!

September 10th, 2007 by Eloewien

I hope things have finally calmed down. We made it to Florida and back, and we even stopped to see my friend Chris in Gainesville on the way back, which was wonderful! Then last week was the ECU vs. VT game- got a bit sunburned, but had some desperately-needed fun. Also had a few friends staying with us that weekend. Work last week started to get to me- just a very high stress level made it hard to cope with ANYTHING, let alone callcenter life. I still haven’t heard back from VT about the job by the way- don’t know if I have it or not. Time will tell.

Anyway- Friday evening my mom called to say that Grandma Barbara, who practically raised me when I was little, was visiting Virginia from Nevada and was somewhere around Appomattox. Well, in my stressed out state, with mom pressuring me to drive 3 hours early the next morning, I had a minor meltdown on lunch. End product was that I felt better, but I really could have done without it. I did end up driving to Appomattox Saturday, and it was worth it for the time I got to spend with her, but I’m just completely exhausted. I have not had a weekend that wasn’t intense in over a month. Just for the record- nothing is allowed to happen this coming weekend! No disasters, no travel, no insanity– just R&R to try to get myself back to normal!!!

On another note– I’ve been addicted to ravelry and haven’t been updating my projects over here too well… so here are a few updates…

The celtic lace scarf is coming along quite well:

Frogged the mystery stole and started Scheherezade instead:

On the yarn side of things - got some swap goodies and new yarnage!!

Peace fleece in Baikal Superior Green and Volgasippi Blue

Silk wool from Mystical Creations Yarn in two colors

And last but certainly not least… my first Malabrigo!! Oh my goodness!!! It’s the most yummy softest bestest yarn ever! I’m making the Koigu silver palette shawl from it– see the sidebar for a link… mmmmmm

Good yarn is better than therapy!!!!
